The Perfect Dried Cherries: Plump, Tart, and a tad sweet
Review by Erinn Y. / (Posted on 3/12/2018)
I have been sampling (in Glen Arbor), buying, and eating Cherry Republic's dried Montmorency cherries for over 10 years now and they are HANDS DOWN the best dried cherries!!! Amazing flavor added into oatmeal, salads, oatmeal cookies, and for healthy snacking! If you are concerned about seeing sugar added in the ingredients, don't be alarmed. As another reviewer was informing, they add a small amount of sugar in the water/sunflower oil used to rinse the cherries and keep them from sticking in a huge clump. This is standard for producing tasty dried cherries and the sugar is minimal in the rinse as these are already the best natural tasting cherries. I work for a health focused grocery that also sells montmorency dried cherries (also containing sugar and sunflower oil) and their cherries are not nearly as moist, large, and delicious as the MI cherries I've been eating from Cherry Republic year after year! I will continue to buy dried cherries from the best source, Cherry Republic in Glen Arbor.
Great not filled with sugar just rinsed in slightly sweetened water and oil
Review by Cherry Lover / (Posted on 3/4/2018)
I see several people talking about the sugar in these. My husband is diabetic. I called the company and spoke with their cherry ambassador. She said they take a slightly sweetened water with sunflower oil mixed in also, and they use that to rinse the cherries before packing. The oil helps keep them from sticking. They are not rolled in sugar or injected with sugar. Mine were excellent and will order many more.
Tart but contains added sugar
Review by Gary / (Posted on 2/9/2018)
Bought 2 one pound bags of the dried cherries in an attempt to kick the sugar habit and eat more fruit.....silly me......they were pretty tart this year and yes SUGAR is one of the ingredients....probably won't spend the $$ again and will choose other dried fruit.
Tart but full of sugar
Review by Dori / (Posted on 12/18/2017)
I have bought bags of these cherries for years and used them for gift giving. This year the cherries seem to be more tart then usual which surprised me when I noted they are loaded with sugar. This is the first year I have been disappointed with the taste.
Disappointing Cherries
Review by SLP / (Posted on 12/1/2017)
We just received our cherries. Compared to the quality of product we got a few years ago, we are very disappointed. We were so excited to receive our "splurge"...only to find tiny, raisin-sized, dry cherries with very little flavor. Sadly, I would not recommend these products if what we received is representative of all Cherry Republic dried cherries.
Won't buy again

I was excited to get these. They came & I read the ingredients on the bag. I was disappointed to see sugar is added to them.
Guilt-free treat

The dried cherries are a delicious snack, and always a successful gift. I am ordering in bulk since they are more effective and tastier than prunes, if you get my drift.
The Best.

I ordered a 5 lb box and we ate them all in a little over a month! So delicious and good for you too. Can't beat these cherries for healthy snacking.
your catalog said 50 lbs

50 lb or 65 dollars. really only 5lbs?
Outstanding cherries!
Review by MommaMia / (Posted on 1/12/2017)
I do not ordinarily like dried fruit as they always tend to be overly dry and hard. These cherries are plump and full of flavor and are a great addition to a salad or in your cereal in the morning. I can't recommend these enough. I am so pleased to have found these! Outstanding product and very nice packaging.
Makes the everyday special

The first time I had Michigan dried cherries was on a salad. Delicious. Now, the cherries are the items I NEED on a salad to make it sing. (otherwise, it's totally boring)
To die for
Review by Carolyn Magura / (Posted on 4/12/2016)
If you love tart cherries, you must have these. They are simply the best! If you're having a mediocre day, a couple of handfuls of these delicious cherries will change your perspective for the better! (Do mind the very infrequent pit.)
Delicious!

Got these Cherries as a gift and they are exceptional. Not overly dried, almost like eating a fresh cherry.
Delicious year round!
Review by Mary L / (Posted on 9/15/2015)
This is something I stock up most Februarys when they're on sale. Good year round. Stored in the freezer until ready to consume, then I break them out into half pound sandwich bags worth and enjoy in oatmeal, on salads, in my own mixed nut/GORP creations and more. Highly recommended :)
GREAT product!
Review by Cindy Miller / (Posted on 9/10/2015)
I have not found better dried cherries than what I have gotten from Cherry Republic. They are soft, plump and naturally sweet/tart. I have bought dried cherries from other retailers, but I won't buy from anyone else from now on. Cherry Republic dried cherries have my vote and my taste buds!

It does seem decadent to spend $70 on dried cherries, but it could be one of the best investments you make in your kitchen! These cherries add pizzazz to oatmeal, salads, homemade cookies and granola -you name it, the cherries improve it. If you can hide them where your spouse cannot see them, they will last for months and still taste great (but if they can be seen, they will not last long at all - they are great for snacks as well!)
A staple in my household!

Being born and raised in Michigan, I've always loved cherries especially picking them off the trees in season. As an adult I've discovered I can love cherries year round dried! These are so good and last for months.
I Love These Cherries
Review by Susan Marino / (Posted on 9/4/2015)
I grew up spending summers in Michigan and, of course, picking fresh fruit. The cherries we canned were used all winter for delicious pies. This gave me discriminating taste for good cherries. Cherry Republic's dried cherries retain the wonderful essence of the cherries I remember. They last forever and are useful for so many applications in baking or just to eat by the handful. I am so pleased to have found dried cherries that are processed the right way to have and keep the wonderful taste of Michigan that I remember from my youth !
Best dried cherries you will ever taste!
Review by Jessica / (Posted on 9/4/2015)
I have been spoiled by these. I have never tasted a better dried cherry. They are sweet, the texture is perfect, and they are an awesome on-the-go snack. I would give them more stars if I could.
Dried cherries are great!
Review by Linda Robinson / (Posted on 9/4/2015)
They are great to eat by themselves or used in baking. I have been ordering them for many years in bulk. I give some to my family and they just rave about them. They ask were I get them from and I tell them. The family has ordered from Cherry Republic also. The cherries are awesome! Thank you!
A time capsule of summer
Review by Brian Kidd / (Posted on 9/4/2015)
We love the dried cherries. In the middle of the winter, when the snow is piling up, they are little time capsules of the summer that we enjoy as a snack or sprinkled on some oatmeal in the morning.
I love these cherries! I have a great chocolate muffin recipe with dried cherries. My husband always eats two.
Review by Juanita Schultz / (Posted on 9/4/2015)
The dried cherries are always plump and flavorful! I use them in chocolate muffins, salads and chocolate chip cookies.
My perfect into Cherry Republic!
Review by Debbie S / (Posted on 9/3/2015)
Splitting a box of these delicious, chewy morsels with my daughter about 5 Christmases ago was my first intro to Cherry Republic! We still get a big box of these for the holidays for baking, salads, and just plain snacking! We look forward to our bulk box of dried cherries every fall!
Excellent hostess gift.
Review by Joan Dennehy / (Posted on 9/3/2015)
I have sent this as a hostess gift several times. It's an excellent Michigan made perfect gift.
Fantastic!

I have been buying these for several years. I keep needing more and more as my family and friends discover how great they are. They are perfect in yogurt, a salad or just paired with almonds. They are the perfect mix of sweet and tart and they are not too dried out. Of course, eating them right out of the bag works well too!
