New Labels and New Packaging

2015 will be the year of biggest change ever in the life of Cherry Republic! It's going to be an exciting ride, and we are inviting our customers and friends to come along by sharing a peek at some of these major projects in a series of posts in the coming weeks. This first one is about big changes to our product packaging and labels!

Last year, we updated our logo. This year, refreshing the look of our products is one of the most overdue and maybe most controversial changes coming at the Republic. We’ve loved our old labels – they have served us for decades (literally!) and have represented our region and brand so well.

But we believe it is time to freshen our look, especially for our most important products. It is time the look of our products reflects not just where we've come from, but who we’ve become: a statewide company with national objectives. We also feel that brighter, fresher labels will better reflect the pristine, beautiful, pastoral lands of Cherry Republic’s homeland, which is – and always will be! – rooted here in northern Michigan.

Our marketing team is shooting for a bright and energetic look with some extra touches and details that show how much we care about our land, our lakes, and our products. Below is an example of how our Dark Chocolate Covered Cherries may look on our shelves this summer.

Just as important, we are changing the jar we use for our jams and salsas. We wanted a wider jar, similar to an old canning jar, but cleaner and clearer – like our lakes.

New labels and a new jar! Our salsas will be getting a makeover that will sharpen their look and make it easier to differentiate between different varieties. New labels and a new jar! We hope that you like the jars so much that you don’t toss them away. Will you save and reuse them as a water glass? Or can we give you some new lids with fresh seals so you can put applesauce or jam into them?

There will be changes to back labels too. We are finally getting nutritional information for you to see the health benefits of our products. And we are getting bar codes for better speed and accuracy at the cash register and for better inventory controls. Those back labels also include some fun and humor. We can’t forget that.

I have to thank Cory Woessner and Amy Eaton here at Cherry Republic for their tireless and ongoing work on this immense project. And thanks also to our neighbor, Kristin Hurlin, an award winning local artist, whose work always captures the northern Michigan vibe we need. And finally, thanks to Miller Creative, a brilliantly talented design firm just outside of New York City, for their guidance and expertise.
