April is Wine Month!
We are celebrating Wine Month as decreed by the Governor of Michigan! We even got a fancy declaration, complete with gold foiling! The enthusiasm is catchy, as indicated by the photo of our winery manager Katy Wiesen (see pic). We're excited that the special this week is a pairing (see next column). If you've ever been to our "Winery," you'll know that we are unique because we sample our soda pops and juice along with our wines. Our tasting room is for all age groups, so we're currently coming up with some fun new ways to convey this to our citizens...look for more in the weeks to come!

The Pits
We sold a bag of Chocolate Covered Cherry Pits! Yahoo. After all this work, we sold a bag! Yes, we're all excited, but then we looked into who exactly ordered it. It was a large national magazine. Now, we wait with bated breath. Our worst product in the hands of the national media. Ugh. Well, when the article comes out, whether good words (chance is nil) or bad -- we will forward it to you. Don't laugh too hard.

The Pits

Growing!
As part of our annual reinvestment in our property, we have many unique projects that are starting up! New seating in Traverse City, some green solutions in Glen Arbor, and the first construction of the season: an expanded deck and seating area off the Winery building in Glen Arbor. Mark Ringlever, the "Builder of the Republic," is leading the deck building with help from Matt Mosher and Chris Zimmerman. Their pace is pretty breathtaking; by the time this email goes out, it will probably be done...

Presenting!
By the time you read this, Jon and I will have finished an 80 minute presentation at Crystal Mountain for the 2008 Small Town & Rural Development Conference. Here is a peek at our presentation. Oh, and some of you who emailed me advice will be quoted. Of course, this whole speech will be rolled up in a blanket and stopped if I see a competitor in the audience.
