Photo Contest! We have received a few submissions for the photo contest, but we're putting out an invitation to send us your photos for inclusion on our café's "Wall of Fame." Submitted photos should have a Cherry Republic theme. Some of the past winners have included spelling "Cherries Rock" with rocks on a beach, kids taking a bath in cherries, and families eating cherries in interesting vistas. Last year we took the top 3 contenders and had a vote online. Since 2008 is a presidential election year, we're wondering if we should have voting, or if it would be better to make an autocratic decision. Have thoughts on that? Drop us a line. Have a photo? If it is digital, email it to us by responding to this email, or send us a hard copy to: Cherry Republic ATTN: Photo Contest P.O. Box 677 Glen Arbor, MI 49636 |

We need a little spring...... Wow, is this snow ever going to leave? Yes, my mother is grumbling about choosing to come back to Michigan from Florida. Mostly, she complains of the ice. The ice in her driveway makes walking the dog a challenge. I'm having the same challenge walking the sidewalks to work. I've been reading a lot lately, mostly because people have been handing me books like it's a Book Club Christmas Party. I just finished "The Clean Tech Revolution." Hans Voss, from the Michigan Land Use Institute, just handed me the "Deep Economy." Steph gave me "The Wisdom of the Wilderness," And my 15 year old nephew, Iskandar, (of all people) handed me "Spiritual Enlightenment, The Damnedest Thing." I will continue to read as I wait for the snow and ice to give way to spring. |
