NEW! Organic Dried Cherries
Introduced in January, we have been selling pounds of these USDA certified Organic Dried Cherries. From start to finish, they are grown and dried completely organically. Since the cherry is a notoriously difficult fruit to grow, there are only a brave few farmers who battle the elements (unpredictable climate, poor soil, pests and hungry birds) using natural methods. A 1 lb. Bag of Organic Dried Cherries is $14.95 and due to popular demand, we now have a 5 lb. box for $63.00. We have found these Organics to be a great addition to the Republic; so great in fact, that we're working on 2 more organic products for this summer.

Back in the Republic...
I took my family to the Orange Republic last week for vacation and to spy around. It was a big success. We had lots of fun and stole lots of ideas from Mickey, Pooh and Nemo. Those seemingly simple cartoon characters have really built a great destination. The level at which they entertain - even while waiting in lines - is terrific. Their sense of space is equally good; the tree in Animal Kingdom and the castle in Magic Kingdom form a foundation for the entire park. Still, the high point of the trip was sunbathing for a few days at Bonita Springs. The beaches on the west side of Florida are great. Lots of shells. Not too much wind. The water is warm. Overall, I can't say enough about the relief I felt to see that the sun is still alive and kicking.

Governor Granholm is speaking today in Traverse City at the City Opera House. Before that, I'll try to catch a Traverse City DDA meeting. And afterward, there is an green energy conference to go to. On Thursday we meet to finalize plans to put in a solar hot water system on the cafe roof and make final plans for some "fine tuning" of our Glen Arbor property. Among the considerations are a play area, changing the deck on the winery, improving the speaker system in the cafe, better outdoor lighting in front of the cafe...It's fun to be home...
