Cherry Republic Painting
Greg Sobran emailed me a copy of a painting he did of the Cherry Republic. He's an artist who jets around Europe, the Florida Keys, California, and South America in the winter, but always spends the summers painting in Glen Arbor! It seems he was commissioned by a woman who wanted something cheerful to hang in her laundry room to take some of the drudgery out of that chore. Now, if we could create some cherry laundry detergent for her, she would really be set. Catch more of Greg's work here.
Body Surfing...
This past Sunday, the waves on Lake Michigan were as big as ocean waves and the air and water temperature were uncharacteristically warm for such turbulent weather. The winds were coming out of the Southwest, so we headed to the turbino sugar sand beaches of Empire. It made for the best swimming day of the year. The body surfing was tremendous. That night, I laid in bed with the rich smell of lake water in my skin and hair and my mind and muscles still carried the sensation of tumbling and spinning in the waves.
