Happenings in the Republic....
The Port Oneida Historical Fair was this past weekend. Cherry Republic donated ice cream as a fundraiser for them. And Colebrook and I went from farm to farm enjoying the exhibits. There isn't a cherry tree left in all of Port Oneida, but at one time, before the national Park came into being, there were many acres of cherry orchards. Of course, some sturdy apple trees survived. And lots of farmhouses and barns did too. And for the most part, this old German farming district is nearly identical to what it was 100 years ago. Yes, we got a good swim in between visiting the farms.
